The Path Forward – Supporting Canadian and Indigenous audio content – Extension to the deadlines for the filing of responses to requests for information and of final written submissions
New deadline for the filing of responses to requests for information: 24 November 2025
New deadline for the filing of final written submissions: 11 December 2025
- The Commission has received procedural requests from Spotify AB, Amazon Music Canada (Amazon), and the Digital Media Association (DiMA) on behalf of their members, with support from Music Canada, to extend deadlines set out in Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2025-52-5. The parties submitted that additional time is required to properly examine each request for information, compile the necessary data, and formulate comprehensive responses. Amazon and DiMA also noted that November is an intensive month for regulatory compliance work for broadcasting undertakings. As such, the parties requested an extension to 28 November 2025 for the filing of responses to requests for information, and Amazon and DiMA requested an extension to 12 December 2025 for the filing of final written submissions.
- The Commission considers that an extension would contribute to a more robust public record for this proceeding. However, it also recognizes the need to advance the implementation of the modernized Broadcasting Act in a timely manner.
- The Commission therefore extends the deadlines set out in Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2025-52-5 to 24 November 2025 for the filing of responses to requests for information and 11 December 2025 for the filing of final written submissions. Parties who have already filed a response to the request for information can refile or update their responses. The filing of final written submissions is limited to parties who have submitted an intervention as part of this proceeding.
