Change of hearing date
- Further to Broadcasting Notices of Consultation 2025-52 and 2025-52-1, the Commission announces the following (changes are in bold):
The Commission will hold a hearing starting on 18 September 2025 at 9:00 a.m. at the Conference Centre, Phase IV, 140 Promenade du Portage, Gatineau, Quebec. - Appearances will be scheduled on 18, 19, 25, 26 and 29 September 2025.
Extension to the deadlines for the filing of interventions and replies
- On 25, 26 and 31 March 2025, the Commission received procedural requests from Arsenal Media Inc., the Association des radiodiffuseurs communautaires du Québec, Bell Media Inc., Cogeco Inc., on behalf of its subsidiary Cogeco Media Inc., Leclerc Communication inc. and RNC MEDIA Inc. to extend the intervention and reply deadlines set out in Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2025-52. They submitted that extending the deadlines would, among other things, allow them to provide more complete, constructive and comprehensive comments and proposals, notably on the impact of online platforms on the radio broadcasting industry and the broadcasting system in general.
- On 28 March 2025, the Commission also received a procedural request from the Digital Media Association to extend the deadlines, arguing that it would be more appropriate to resume consultation after the caretaker convention period.
- In light of the new hearing date, the Commission extends the intervention deadline set out in Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2025-52 to 5 May 2025 and the deadline for the submission of replies to 29 May 2025. Parties that have already filed an intervention can refile or update their interventions.
Additional information added to the public record
- In Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2025-52, the Commission indicated that this proceeding would take into consideration information from a forthcoming report entitled “Industry Discussions on Canadian Content Definitions for the Audio Sector”. The Commission has received this report and has added it to the public record for this proceeding.
- The Commission invites interested persons and parties to comment on the report when submitting their interventions.
