The Path Forward – Working towards a sustainable Canadian broadcasting system – Extension to the deadlines for the filing of responses to requests for information and final written submissions
New deadline for the filing of responses to requests for information: 18 August 2025
New deadline for the filing of final written submissions: 16 September 2025
- The Commission has received procedural requests from Amazon Canada, Spotify AB, and the Motion Picture Association – Canada and the Digital Media Association on behalf of their members, to extend the deadlines set out in Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2025-2-3. The parties submitted that the volume of information they have been asked to provide while participating in overlapping broadcasting proceedings is causing capacity challenges. As such, they requested an extension to 8 September 2025 for the filing of responses to requests for information and 26 September 2025 for the filing of final written submissions to allow parties sufficient time to participate in all proceedings.
- The Commission considers that an extension would contribute to a more robust public record for this proceeding. However, it also recognizes the need to advance the implementation of the regulatory plan to modernize the broadcasting framework in a timely manner.
- The Commission therefore extends the deadlines set out in Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2025-2-3 to 18 August 2025 for the filing of responses to requests for information and 16 September 2025 for the filing of final written submissions. The filing of responses is limited to parties that have submitted an intervention as part of this process. Parties that have already filed a response can refile or update their responses.
