Subject: Part 1 Applications for the Review and Variance of Telecom Decision CRTC 2025-225, Mandatory Notification and Reporting of Major Telecommunications Service Outages
In a Commission staff letter dated 11 March 2026, certain parties were asked to respond to a request for information no later than 10 April 2026, regarding two combined Part 1 applications for the Review and Variance of Telecom Decision CRTC 2025-225.
In a letter dated 18 March 2026 from Bell Canada; Bragg Communications Inc (operating as Eastlink); Cogeco Communications Inc., on behalf of Cogeco Connexion Inc.; Québecor Media Inc. (on behalf of Videotron Ltd and Freedom Mobile Inc.); Rogers Communications Canada Inc.; Saskatchewan Telecommunications (SaskTel); and TELUS Communications Inc. (collectively ‘the Applicants’) requested a three-week extension to provide sufficient time to compile the requested data on outage reports and conduct the required detailed analysis of FCC rules on satellite outages. The Applicants also requested an additional week due to delays in receiving the Commission’s request for information.
We consider the request reasonable and grant the requested extension to help develop a fulsome record to assist the Commission in its assessment of the above-mentioned applications. As a result, all parties asked to respond to the request for information in the Commission letter dated 11 March 2026 are required to file their responses with the Commission and provide copies to all parties to the proceeding no later than 8 May 2026.
A copy of this letter will be placed on the public record of this proceeding.
