Subject: Compliance with Wireless Public Alerting Requirements – SSi Micro

In recent correspondence with Commission staff, SSi Micro indicated that it was “currently working to deploy, integrate, test and implement an interface between our network and the National Alert Distribution Centre” and Commission staff’s understanding is that SSi Micro is or will imminently be implementing Wireless Public Alerting (WPA) on its LTE or newer networks, as required by Telecom Regulatory Policy 2017-91.

Consequently, commission staff requests that SSi Micro respond to the following questions:

  1. Since their most recent correspondence with Commission staff, has SSi Micro fully implemented WPA on its network, including interoperability of its network with the NAAD system, to provide public alerts over its relevant wireless networks?
  2. If implementation is complete as described in question 1, will SSi Micro be participating in the upcoming WPA test on Wednesday, 19 November, 2025?
  3. If implementation is not complete as described in question 1, what is SSi Micro’s timeline for WPA implementation? Please list the specific steps that are outstanding.

This letter and any subsequent submissions will be placed on the CRTC’s website and may be placed on the record of any future public proceedings on this matter. Please repeat the question before responding. As set out in section 39 of the Telecommunications Act and in Broadcasting and Telecom Information Bulletin, CRTC 2010-961, 23 December 2010, parties may designate certain information as confidential. However, they must provide a detailed explanation as to why the designated information is confidential and why its disclosure would not be in the public interest, including why the specific direct harm that would be likely to result from the disclosure would outweigh the public interest in disclosure. Furthermore, should parties designate information as confidential, they must either file an abridged version of the document omitting only the information designated as confidential or provide reasons why an abridged version cannot be filed.

The Commission requires all confidential documents to be submitted electronically by using the secured service “My CRTC Account (Partner Log In or GCKey)” and filing the “Telecom Cover Page” located on that web page.

Please submit your response no later than 14 November 2025 by 5:00 p.m., Vancouver time. If you have any questions or require additional time, please contact Mr. Amjad Iqbal at (819) 360-2891 or via email at amjad.iqbal@crtc.gc.ca.

Sincerely,
