Subject: Validation of Landline-Related Customer Transfers - Extension Request

Dear Justin Gerogiannis:

The Commission is in receipt of a letter from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) Interconnection Steering Committee’s (CISC) Business Process Working Group (BPWG) dated 26 February 2024. This letter is in response to the CRTC’s request to the BPWG to submit revised redacted versions for posting on the CISC website of the documents filed in relation to its proposed recommendation to prevent unauthorized customer transfers from landline/wireline carriers to other carriers (fraudulent porting) contained in the Task Identification Form Report BPRE104A (the Report). These documents were to be submitted by March 5, 2025.

The BPWG submitted that, as a result of the CRTC’s request, further revisions to the Report are required as there is no longer consensus to proceed with the proposed recommendation.

The BPWG requested an extension to 5 September 2025 to perform a review of the previously identified measures and appropriate next steps.

The CRTC is currently considering the request and will issue its decision shortly.

Yours sincerely,
