Change to procedure

  1. On 16 January 2025, the Commission issued Telecom Notice of Consultation 2025-10 (the Notice), which initiated a proceeding to determine how the Commission could best implement a retail Internet service subsidy in the Far North. The deadline to file replies with the Commission was 28 February 2025.
  2. On 25 February 2025, First Mile Connectivity Consortium (FMCC) filed a procedural request with the Commission seeking an extension to the reply deadline.
  3. Specifically, FMCC requested that the reply deadline be extended by three weeks, from 28 February 2025 to 21 March 2025. In its request, FMCC noted that it needed additional time to consult with its members on the issues raised in the interventions that were submitted on the record of the proceeding. FMCC added that there is overlap in the deadlines for this proceeding and those established in Telecom Notice of Consultation 2023-89, to which it is also a party.
  4. On 26 February 2025, the Kativik Regional Government submitted a letter to the Commission supporting FMCC’s request.
  5. The Commission considers that a three-week extension is reasonable because it will contribute to the development of a diverse and robust record. For this reason, the Commission also considers that it would be appropriate to apply the revised deadline to all parties.
  6. In light of the above, the Commission extends the reply deadline set out in the Notice from 28 February 2025 to 21 March 2025 for all parties.
  7. The Commission hereby invites parties to file reply comments by 21 March 2025. If parties have already filed replies prior to the issuance of this amendment to the Notice, they may refile or update their replies.
