Re Request to appear at the hearing that was announced in Broadcasting Notice of Consultation CRTC 2014-26 regarding Rogers Media Inc.’s various licence renewals
Mr. Mistry:
This letter is in response to a procedural request that you submitted to the Commission on 23 March 2014. In your e-mail message, you request that the Commission reconsider its decision not to invite you to appear at the hearing that was announced in Broadcasting Notice of Consultation CRTC 2014-26. You also indicate that as someone who is part of an ethnic minority and as a former employee at the OMNI television station in Vancouver you would like the opportunity to appear before the Commission to expend on how the proposed programming changes may impact the communities served and Rogers’ employees.
The Commission has decided to maintain its decision not to invite you to appear at the hearing. The Commission is aware that you wish to bring specific issues to the Commission’s attention in the oral phase of this proceeding, however, the Commission notes that your position on these issues is already clearly set out in your written submission. In addition, since Unifor has been invited to appear at the hearing, you may wish to take the opportunity to raise your specific concerns through their presentation.
The Commission wishes to assure you that your written intervention forms part of the public record of this proceeding and will be considered by the Commission in making its determination.
Should you have any questions regarding this letter, please do not hesitate to contact Caroline Poirier, Coordinator of the hearing, at the following phone number: 819-994-2700 or at the following e-mail address: caroline.poirier@crtc.gc.ca.
Sincerely,
Original signed by
