Re: Issues related to the feasibility of establishing a video relay service Telecom Notice of Consultation CRTC 2013-155
On 15 April 2013 Commission staff received the responses submitted by Shaw Communications Inc. to the request for information dated 27 March 2013. The responses to this request for information were intended to update the responses to a similar request for information sent by Commission staff on 25 May 2012. After reviewing these responses, Commission staff notes that the following sections were incomplete, or require clarification, and therefore requests that the responses to the following questions be submitted by 28 June 2013 to complete the original request.
1. Refer to the company’s response to Shaw(CRTC)27Mar13-4 and Shaw(CRTC)25May12-4.
a. For the years 2008 to 2012, provide a breakdown of the number of network access service by the following segments: i) wireline, ii) mobile/wireless, iii) VoIP, and iv) wholesale.
b. Further explain if the company plans to charge a specific monthly rate for MRS. If yes, provide the planned rate and the segments it will apply to; if not, explain why not
2. Please refer to Shaw(CRTC)27March2013-5:
a. Staff notes that there was a sharp decrease in annual TTY costs, as reported in the table titled “Total MRS Expenditures”, in 2012 when compared to annual TTY costs reported in previous years. Explain this sharp decrease and indicate whether Shaw expects this trend to continue.
b. In the table titled “Total MRS Expenditures”, staff notes that the capital costs for IPRS in 2011 were # $ #, the AEC of capital for 2011 was reported at # $ #, please confirm the life estimate of the equipment or rate of depreciation of capital.
c. Confirm the Total Annual IPRS Cost for 2011.
3. Refer to Shaw(CRTC)27Mar13-5 and Shaw(CRTC)25May12-5. Identify the one-time cost included in the third-party costs provided, indicating the amount and the year that it was applied.
4. Refer to Shaw(CRTC)27Mar13-9. Please provide the amount of data included in each of the packages described.
